No. I viaggiatori stranieri necessitano di un tour con guida autorizzata e di un veicolo privato fuori Lhasa. Un posto in partenza di gruppo è l’opzione più economica.
Da aprile a ottobre è la stagione principale. Maggio–giugno e settembre–ottobre offrono le viste più chiare; luglio e agosto sono più verdi ma più umidi.
Il treno da Xining o Pechino è una salita lenta e panoramica che aiuta l’acclimatazione. I voli da Chengdu, Xi’an o Kathmandu fanno risparmiare uno o due giorni.
