A Xian Tibet tour is a 7–12 day combined itinerary starting in Xian (Shaanxi Province, China’s ancient Tang dynasty capital) and continuing to Tibet by train (33 hours) or flight (3 hours). The Xian leg covers the Terracotta Army, the city walls, the Muslim Quarter and (with 3 days) the Big Wild Goose Pagoda; the Tibet leg covers Lhasa with optional EBC or Yamdrok Lake.
Xian’s strongest months are April–May and September–October, both aligning with strong Tibet windows. July–August is hot in Xian (35 °C peaks) but the Tang Dynasty Show evening performances run year-round. Plan 7 days for a quick combined trip, 11–12 days to add EBC.
Xian days use a local English-speaking guide and private vehicle. The Terracotta Army gets the morning slot (the site is a 1.5-hour drive from central Xian; we leave hotel by 07:30 to arrive before the tour bus wave).
